iTPA Member Spotlight: Alastair Milne Home, CTPS
Alastair Milne Home, CTPS Born and raised in Hong Kong to a Gibraltarian mother and a father of Scottish descent; fortified by the British education system, and seasoned on Spanish soil, my journey in sport has been shaped by diverse influences across continents and cultures. From playing regional-level tennis and earning an international rugby cap against Japan to facing the challenges of injury in my own athletic career, I’ve gained a deep understanding of what it takes to perform at elite levels and, just as importantly, how to rise after setbacks which ultimately shapes my approach to coaching and performance. Now based in Denia, Spain, I bring over 20 years of international experience to my work as a Strength & Conditioning Coach. For the last two and a half years, I’ve had the privilege of working at the Ferrer Tennis Academy in La Nucia, where I collaborated closely with the Director of Performance and Head Coach, to help develop the academy’s high-performance tennis programme. During this time, I established the current physical development programme, designing everything from warm-up/cool-down protocols to weekly training programmes that focus on the core aspects of a complete tennis athlete. This effort, combined with an emphasis on a variety of recovery protocols, directly contributed to a 75% increase in full-time players at the academy over a period of 18 months. Prior to my work at the Ferrer Academy, I was fortunate enough to work alongside an established and highly experienced tennis S&C coach for ATP/WTA players. This collaboration has deepened my expertise and understanding of what it takes to develop top-tier tennis athletes at the highest level. As a Certified Tennis Performance Specialist, my approach combines corrective and sports performance enhancement strategies, tennis-specific movement techniques, and serve biomechanics to build well-rounded, injury-resistant athletes. Every player has unique needs, which is why I design customized, long-term development plans that focus not only on performance but also on reducing injury risks. Whether it's perfecting technique, optimizing nutrition, or integrating recovery protocols, I work to ensure my athletes have everything they need to succeed—on the court and beyond. For me, coaching is about more than just pushing players physically—it’s about fostering a mindset that values hard work, understanding the process, and staying resilient in the face of challenges. My mission is to guide athletes towards their long-term performance goals, teaching them to love the journey just as much as the victories."
